The White and Wild theme designed for the Textpattern Template Competition is actually more than a simple theme. Its a fully developed Textpattern site including a home page, archives page, links page, about page and contact form. It uses a revolutionary new install process – the theme is installed as a standard Textpattern plugin. All forms, pages and styles are added in seconds. Even the required sections can be set up automatically by running a SQL script provided with the install.
Other features:
* Installing the theme does not overwrite your existing Textpattern installation. * Several commonly used plugins are already integrated with the theme. * The style sheet is organized and commented for easy updating. * Tested in current versions of Firefox, IE and Opera on Windows and Firefox, Safari, Camino and Opera on OS X.

Rob, that is such a cool way to install a template! Way to go!

Brilliant template, and though I still have to upload the images, I’m already working with it right now, and half traslated it into my native language. What a concept!
Congratulations.

What a funny installation. I flew blindfolded through it and it is the very first Textpattern (TXP) template which worked immediately (heavy kudoing to Rob Sable for that). Click on my name to get the actual version on my brand new TXP site (No warranty – I am still changing a lot).
For me as an absolute TXP beginner it was pretty tough to figure out how to tweak all the options. I would assume that it is on purpose. At least I learned a lot about the template that way by stepping virtously through all the delivered items ;o)
A little tweak which I would recommend for the logo link is to shift the logo up one pixel for the hover state. That little move adds to the usability pretty much IMHO.
I like the style very much but I miss some possibilities i.e. to have the usual sidebars (which shouldn’t be a too heavy task even for an absolute beginner). Sidebars sliding in and out would be a great option!
What else? I’d like to have a multi language switching option as my page main language is German but I am expecting a lot of foreign visitors in the future. But this might not be the purpose of a template contest.
I hope I will figure that all out …
As always just my 2c …

It’s an interesting looking template and hse some nice features, but it’s not industrial strength. Make any changes to it and it shatters. I added some background color, it broke, I added a blogroll, it broke. I added a couple of extra pngs, it broke. It wasy enough to fix. Just drop the offending form or page and reload the template php. But I need something that will grow as my site grows. This doesn’t.

I just love this template and its simple design. It is very clean an pleasant to look at.
I use it now for my weblog.
Thanks Rob for your contribution.
